Associate of Applied Science Degree
The associate of applied science degree with specialization in accounting is designed to provide practical and theoretical preparation for positions leading to supervisory and administrative assignments. In addition to completion of the required general education courses, students desiring the program designation on their transcript must complete the required core and specialized courses. This curriculum provides preparation for careers in business accounting departments and accounting firms.
Accounting remains one of the more sought-after disciplines in the job market. According to the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget-Bureau of Labor Market Information and Strategic Initiatives, accounting and auditors are listed as one of the “Hot 50” jobs through 2028.
An associate degree in accounting from MCCC offers transfer opportunities to four-year programs in Michigan and surrounding states. MCCC has transfer agreements with Northwood University, Eastern Michigan University, Davenport University, Siena Heights University, and Indiana Wesleyan University.
