Computer Information Systems: System Administration Specialist, A.A.S.


Associate of Applied Science Degree

The associate of applied science degree with specialization as a system administration specialist is designed to train students in LAN, Windows Server networking, hardware maintenance, data communication concepts, various PC operating systems and administration fundamentals.

Program Outcomes

A. Utilize basic programming skills.

B. Use, install, configure, manage, troubleshoot and maintain a server operating system.

C. Install, configure, use, troubleshoot and maintain microcomputer operating systems.

D. Demonstrate a basic understanding of networks and computer security in the business environment.

E. Demonstrate a basic knowledge of fundamental security concepts.

F. Plan for the future and design a solution based on user requirements. Explain business continuity, back up and disaster recovery.Examine and apply the fundamental techniques of computer security.

G. Describe the components of a modern computing environment.

H. Use and configure essential office applications, including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database software.

    *MATH 126  (Mathematics for Business) is recommended for students whose goal is to complete the AAS degree and seek employment. MATH 154  (Mathematics Explorations) or higher is recommended for students interested in transferring.
