Education (Elementary Education Track) Transfer Pathway

The education associate of science with a concentration in elementary education prepares students to provide high-quality education to children in grades K-12. This degree program prepares students for transfer into an elementary education program at a 4-year college or university. The first two years of instruction in a bachelor’s degree program in elementary education are met. Please work in coordination with your advisor and planned transfer institution to ensure transferability.

Program Outcomes

A. Utilize knowledge of child development and educational theory to support school-age students in their development and learning.

B. Demonstrate respectful and professional interactions with diverse children, families, staff, and communities to support student development and learning.

C. Apply systematic observation and varied documentation and assessment strategies to support student development and learning.

D. Apply knowledge of academic discipline content to support student learning and development.

E. Identify individualized instructional methods to meet the developmental and learning needs of diverse learners.

F. Demonstrate professionalism through adherence to the ethical and professional standards across multiple academic and educational contexts.

Required General Education Courses*


* Students intending to transfer to a four-year elementary education program are advised to meet with Education faculty for plan of study prior to the first semester of classes.

** Students intending to transfer to a four-year elementary education program are advised to take MATH 156  and MATH 166 .
