This course is a study of elementary probability and statistics, geometry, computer and calculator applications. An emphasis is put on the use of manipulatives and problem solving. Students will be expected to work with mathematics numerically, graphically, analytically, and verbally. The purpose of this course is to provide the future elementary school teacher with a perspective for understanding the mathematics taught in the elementary school.

Learning Outcomes: 1. Calculate the experimental and theoretical probabilities of certain events.
2. Summarize data using various graphs and charts.
3. Calculate the measures of central tendency and variation.
4. Calculate perimeter, area, and volume of various shapes.
5. Interconvert English measurements and metric measurements.
6. Construct geometric figures given a straight-edge and compass.
7. Utilize concepts of congruence, similarity, and the Pythagorean Theorem to solve problems.
8. Graph equations and inequalities on the Cartesian Coordinate Plane.
9. Use computer software and a graphing calculator as it applies to elementary school learning.
