HIST 297 - History Internship Credit Hours: 1-3 Billable Contact Hours: 1-3 Prerequisites: ENGL 152 and any History course at MCCC Students will complete an experiential learning internship to explore careers and develop skills in public history. This internship will allow students to use their research and historical skills, developed in the classroom, in a professional setting, most commonly at museums, historical sites, or non-profit organizations. Interns may conduct historical research for an exhibit, collect oral histories for a museum, design and conduct visitor surveys for a historical site, process archival collections, or document historically significant cultural or architectural resources.

Off-Campus Hours: 30-90
Learning Outcomes:
- Apply knowledge gained through previous history coursework in a professional setting.
- Produce a research or public history project for an organization or academic community in a professional setting.
- Explore career options and job duties in the field of public history by doing relevant professional work.
