In addition to the two-year associate degree program, Monroe County Community College offers a certificate program in metrology technology. We recognize that many employers place value on a certificate which authenticates specialized educational preparation. The program concentrates upon basic core courses with skill development and job upgrading being the primary objectives. All courses taken in the certificate program are applicable toward the associate of applied science degree.
Program Outcomes
A. Collect quality related data; then interpret measurement output and graphic data by use of SPC tools and the performance of Cp and Cpk analysis.
B. Summarize calibration results, and quality concepts, then communicate these to engineering customers and others.
C. Acquire and analyze measurement and other data using appropriate statistical methods to facilitate process analysis and improvement.
D. Develop, operate, and manage quality control systems, including management of resources and customer relations
E. Operate basic metrology equipment commonly used in a metrology facility comprised of dimensional, pressure, temperature, mass, torque, force, surface roughness, and other metrology measurement parameters.
F. Learn aspects of the maintenance of a calibration system, including proper calibration techniques for common measuring and test equipment used within a facility.
G. Program, set up and operate a CMM or similar, such as an articulating arm and make measurements of materials and parts.
H. Create and perform gage repeatability, reproducibility and correlation studies
I. Review quality auditing and the principles for meeting domestic and international standards (e.g. ISO/IEC 17025, NCSLI/ISO Z540.3, TS 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 9002, ISO 9003, ISO 14000, QS 9000).
