Associate of Applied Science Degree

The associate of applied science degree with a focus in health sciences provides students with a foundation in basic and health-related sciences through a diversified curriculum, allowing students to explore courses unique to health-related disciplines.  The curriculum provides a flexible means to explore health content areas of interest and is useful to students working toward acceptance into a limited enrollment program at MCCC, such as nursing or respiratory therapy.  The AAS-Health Sciences degree may also serve as a foundation for transfer to a college or university offering a bachelor’s degree in the applied health sciences area.

Transfer Information

The AAS-Health Sciences degree serves as an introduction to higher education opportunities, acknowledging that specific transfer requirements in each field are dictated by the transfer institution.  Students that successfully transfer credits taken at MCCC as part of the AAS-Health Sciences degree are well positioned to pursue an applied health sciences degree at the university level, supporting a variety of health sciences career pathways.

Career Opportunities

Completion of an AAS-Health Sciences degree is not directly aligned with employment; however, may be the basis for completion of a related degree in a health sciences area at a higher level as the student advances their education.
